SAP dominates the Belgian ERP market

  • Education sector gets on the ERP bandwagon
  • ERP solution increasingly less local
  • Hosted and  remote ERP more popular in the Netherlands

SAP continues to dominate with 48.4% of the Belgian ERP market. The education sector has registered the strongest increase. Whereas just 26% of companies had installed an ERP solution in 2010, this figure has risen to 47% in 2018, as attested by a market analysis by market intelligence specialist Smart Profile, in which 3,774 Belgian companies with more than fifty employees were questioned.

We must nonetheless qualify the results of the education sector which ranks third from last place of all sectors with 47%. Only the government and healthcare sectors score lower, with 25% and 32% respectively. The best students in the class are the manufacturing sector (92%), the wholesale and retail sector (86%) and the ICT and utilities sectors (81%).

SAP has topped the Belgian rankings since 2010.  In 2018, it had a 48.4% of the market. This is 28.7% more than Microsoft, which ranks second with 19.7%.  Third place is occupied by custom-built ERP solutions (13.0%).

SAP also dominates in the different market segments, where it is by far the biggest player particularly among multinationals (75%) and national companies (49%).  Only SMEs prefer Microsoft (31%).
